  1. While I was the Executive Producer for Home Box Office, I was also the morning sportscaster on WNEW AM in 1974-5. (Jack Sullivan had returned to the station at the same time, in the role of Special Projects Director, a role I played from 1960 to 1969 when I was made Program Director of the new WNEW FM, and subsequently promoted to General Manager of the new Los Angeles station, KMET.)
Klavan, who had made me a minor NY celebrity as “Mistah Nat,” never called me that when I did the sports insert on the morning news. He felt that it would diminish whatever impact the sports news would have.
